Borger Honor Guard

About The Borger Honor Guard

We are “Veterans Honoring Veterans”.
“Desire to Serve” “Ability to Perform” “Courage to Act”

Guards of Honor, or Honor Guards, serve in the civilian world to honor and show respect to those men and women that have sacrificed and served our country and to present to the community the correct way to respect the American Flag.

The American flag, for many, represents hope, freedom, individualism, and perseverance. The flag is used to honor different occasions and holidays and used to remember those we have lost and honor those who serve our country. The American flag deserves our respect and honor.

In 2013 the Borger Honor Guard in Borger, Texas was established by six veterans of the Borger Elks Lodge who, after noticing organizations in Borger and the surrounding area were in need of someone to present the American colors during special ceremonies and take pride in what the United States of America stands for, made the decision to stand and fill the gap.

The mission of the Borger Honor Guard is to present the American colors in a respectful manner, honoring and respecting veterans, whenever needed. The Borger Honor Guard is self-funded and will never charge for the service they can provide. If the U.S. Military cannot provide detail at a veteran’s funeral, this group of dedicated and honorable men will stand and do the honor with respect and dignity.

The Borger Honor Guard has presented colors for Texas Governor Abbott, Little League sporting events, the annual Christmas Parade in Borger, and for the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Interlodges, State, and Fall Conference and Conventions, presenting in front of over 7,000 people.

No matter the weather or time of year, during veteran funerals, the Borger Honor Guard presents the colors, folds the flag and a bugler plays taps. A folded Flag is presented to the family of the deceased Veteran. All of this is done to honor an American Hero and welcome him or her to their final resting place.

Other opportunities where the Borger Honor Guard can step in are school presentations, Memorial Day services, parades like the one on July 4th, and teaching flag etiquette to civic groups. It is important to the Borger Honor Guard that no Veteran, living, or deceased is ever forgotten and the pride remains for the American Flag in American communities.

The Borger Honor Guard is strictly a volunteer-based group of Veterans. They are “veterans honoring veterans, with a desire to serve, ability to perform, and the courage to act.” If you are interested in this group of dedicated and honorable men to present the American Flag at your assemble or service, or you are interested in what they do, please contact;
